The Licence Inspectors’ and Bylaw Officers’ Association of BC (LIBOA) is the leading voice for local government compliance and enforcement, commonly referred to as bylaw enforcement across the province of British Columbia.
Established in 1970, the association represents both senior leaders and front-line officers employed in the compliance and enforcement profession related to local government legislation. LIBOA is comprised of approximately 750 members from Indigenous communities, small rural local governments, large urban cities, other regulatory agencies, as well as solicitors in BC. Our members are involved in a variety of enforcement and compliance roles, including: animal control, building inspection, business licencing, environmental protection, land use regulation, parking enforcement, public safety patrols, and general regulatory inspection and enforcement. This diversity provides members with a broad range of experiences to draw upon.
We are dedicated to the support and promotion of efficient and effective compliance and enforcement that enhances community safety and livability. This is done through the activities and special projects of a number of committees, and through active liaison with various levels of government.
Many of the initiatives and work of the association and its committees are reported on at our annual training conference, when recommendations are presented, and resolutions adopted. In many cases, these form the basis of the association’s ongoing work on behalf of the profession and the communities they serve.
With a committed and active Board of Directors and group of committees, we provide our members with the following services: conference, seminars and workshops, educational training, zone meetings, advocacy, communications, and networking.
We are much stronger when we share ideas, information, opinions, and collaborate on important issues facing our profession.
